It's Time

Post by blanikdog »

I'm outta here guys. It's been fun but six years has had its toll. I'm now of to meditate.

Stay safe and above all remain calm.
Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
(50 litre, propane heated pot still. Coil in bucket condenser - No thermometer, No carbon)
The Reading Lounge AND the Rules We Live By should be compulsory reading

Cumudgeon and loving it.

Blanikdog Sir you will be missed. I have learned quite a bit from your contributions here at HD. Sory to see you go. But you know what's best for you. I do hope you will stop by and smash a few thermometers every now and again. Enjoy your time away.

I find this comment very mean and uncalled for bobtuse. Blanikdog has still managed to add valuable content to HD over the last couple of years even though his health has been anything but 100%. His straight talking style has sometimes been looked down on by some members, but they are in the minority. He gave his information on many many topics freely even though at some stage giving it, he must have been in physical pain.

I think I speak for the majority of the membership in wishing Blanik all the best for the future, in whatever he does. When Blanikdog, Olddog and others, graced the boards of HD with their presence, the polish was given to our hobby and the search to produce better beverages easier and more importantly, a safer way to do it, gave way to a new methodology only practised by very few home distiller's at that time. While some of Blanikdog's responses were shot straight from the waist at whatever subject, I have no doubt in my mind that it was done with the intention of making the culprit sit up and take heed of what they were doing, in the hope that it would make them a better home distiller and make the hobby more attractive to legalisation among other subjects. Not everyone liked his posts, but if it saved people from being scalded or maybe even killed, then that is a very small emotion to live with. Some members, IMO, who put up walls of defence towards Blanik's posts, were egoist's who were wholly blasé about the practice of home distillation.

Good Luck Blanikdog and Thank You, you will be missed here on the boards...

Well I hate to see you go grandpa, but I understand. Thanks for always being strait forward and giving so much attention to the safety side of this hobby that is so often overlooked.

Good luck on your journey.

I hate to see you go also blanik. We all need the cranky ole grandpa that waves his walking stick at the kids, and yells at them to 'GIT OFF THE LAWN!!' :moresarcasm: :moresarcasm: once in a while.

I wish you the best in whatever direction life takes you, and hope that it is still a long road ahead of you. I know you have had some hard times with the meds the last few years, and know just how bad the meds and procedures for a dreadful disease can cause a change in personality/behavior. I have walked that path myself, as an observer, so have seen first hand.

I think we all hope, to hear from you as much as we can in the future.

Now in your 'retirement' years from HD, you can now pull up a rocker on the porch, pour yourself a tall cold one (or 4), and spin yarns for the young'uns, about the 'way thing used to be, back in my days', lol.
