Location is the key . Not every piece of oak is stave material . Buyers came into my area buying and harvesting select old growth white oak to supply a now defunct stave mill over a hundred miles from my home . That was mid '40's to early '50's .

My wife sold my bike. She is afraid I will hurt myself if I convert it to a rocket bike. Of course she's right but that's beside the point. So my newest evil plan now is to build the rocket first, then buy another bike so I can get the conversion done before she has a chance to do anything about it.

It is true I feel over the past year I have become closer to people here than most other people. I find it very refreshing that so many like minded people to myself actually exist in this world.

Don't plan on needing 6, going straight to the BBQ, Might let you use the ash for neuts for a ferment or two though.

I was supervisor on the construction of Tara Mandala, a huge Buddhist retreat here. David was the visionary along with his wife LAMA Tsultrim. David died in his sleep @ 55 from a heart attack near the end of construction.

As some may know the Buddhist build a funeral pyre. And yes, freedom of religion allows this here in the US.
After a 2 hour ceremony he was brought out and lit up.

NOT something you want to ever smell. Other than that it was pretty cool.

I have some sort of vague memory of the smell of burning human flesh and if I remember correctly it is not a smell I ever want to smell again. Of course like so many other memories I can't recall the circumstance, I got hit on the head a few years back by something big and heavy and have lost a lot of memories.

Can't say that I have had any experience smelling burnt people. I will be happy if it stays that way. I prefer Bacon.

+1 me too. Forever indebted to our brethren who fought overseas and cant say the same.

We kill animals to eat, what we dont eat goes into the outdoor furnace to burn. Bones, fat, hide. Cheap and easy BTUs. Smells awfull. Don't know if we smell that way, but not a good smell anyhow.

The smell of a human burning is like no other smell. Once you smell it you will never forget it, and will know exactly what it is if you ever smell it again. If you are unlucky enuf to be near it for very long you might as well toss the clothes you are wearing. Can't wash it out

The smell of a bloated body busting open is hard on the gag reflex too. I smelled somebody burning garbage in their furnace a while back as I was out walking the dog, put me right back in Duravar Croatia in March '92. Smell is the strongest sensations they say for memory.

2nd and 3rd degree burns up my legs and stomach from a gas fire when I was a kid. That's enough smelling burned flesh for a lifetime, and it wasn't even that severe.

I am humbled by most of what I hear from them. My step father was in Korea. You all deserve the utmost respect.

The smell of burning flesh and mutilated bodies is something that sticks with you for a lifetime... I used to be able to tell if there was a fatality at an accident scene just by the smell in the air and that meant I got to do most of the dirty work because it didn't effect me like it did others... I can still see visions of things people shouldn't have to see as clear as day over 30 years later... Been known to eat lunch while observing autopsies, even burn victims, if that is any indication of how little such stuff bothers me...
