Location, Hobbies, and Interests
OK so I've grown to really like several of your forum regs and wanted to know y'all a little. I am from North Texas, I like staying busy hence constantly starting new endeavors. I recently put away my beer stuff to start distilling. I am restoring a 1977 Bandit Trans Am and enjoy long evenings on the Harley. Last year my youngest started college so I'm also an empty nester.

Re: Location, Hobbies, and Interests
Location may be problematic for givin up with quite a few here. And the rest of the question exists through other threads but I'll bite.
Guitar I find very rewarding but pretty much suck at. Lot's of rock climbing and fishing. Baggin peaks is fun as well.
Archery when in season and stump thumpin when it isn't. Shoot recurve most often.
Brewed beer for years, not so much anymore since I hung my shingle.

Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm a tank mechanic in the Army (well I was, promoted away from the toolbox now) and I'm into dragracing with my kid who runs a dragster and I build various racing related stuff. Play guitar, fiddle, drums, harmonica, etc, etc.
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

Let's see, I am from the good part of California where we still like guns and don't mind hunting for our food. I have 2 kids and 3 grand kids and work at a machine and welding shop. I have shot rifles from .17 cal to .50 cal. I have shot archery for about 50 years now still like the feel of a recurve, I also shoot a lot of tournament archery . Done a lot of fishing both inshore and off shore. I make some killer cookies and do my own sewing also, but I don't do windows. Also grow some of the hottest peppers known to man. My task now is to make a fine single malt whisky.

I was a regional king on a planet that orbits Alpha Centauri. I was exiled to earth for eating Brownies 624 years ago.
Things were pretty weird back then so I fit in easily...kinda like now. I have a Neeble as a pet and feed him captured grummensquits when I can find them.
I settled in California, Texas and Louisiana because it's easy to blend in. Jimbo knows.
I got into distilling because a friend of mine needed a transfusion. That's about it.

WOW what a diverse interesting group of people.
Woodshed I've done some repelling in my younger years and probably 30-40 lbs ago. I always wanted to get into climbing but never made it. I do skydive with my daughter and SCUBA dive with my son.
LOL Bigbob thats just funny as hell whoever you are. Wife and I actually had a little difficulty adjusting to being empty nesters ourselves. For 25 years our lives have been centered around our kids and then POOF we had to work to find things in common. The still probably didnt help much shes not a fan but lets me be.
goinbroke2 I love Canada ever since my son played in the Silver Sticks up on the Canadian side of Niagra Falls. Wayne Gretsky was there and signed autographs.
Plaincrazy my kid was into racing years ago. I started looking at Junior Dragsters but couldnt afford it in those days we were young and starting a family so I built him a dirt track go kart. He raced for about 4 years and moved into Hockey.
Corene I love fishing. I take my 5th wheel trailer to the coast every summer and leave it there so I can go anytime I want and have a place to stay. I used to be into guns just kinda got bored messing with em (I know amazing not all Texans are total gun nuts).
LOL T-Pee that sounds like a fun place to be, Alpha Centauri.
Anyways you guys are great and keep em coming this is some interesting cool stuff. If any of you make it to North Texas send me a PM and Beer and Bar B Que are on me.

Re: Location, Hobbies, and Interests
Yeah the youngest has been running juniors since he was 10. I've limited him to about 60mph in the 1/8 cause it'll cost a lot more for a little bump in speed. Sides, he stil thinks/acts like he's driving a top fueler and that the point of it all anyway, having fun, and he is. Here's a pic back in 2012 in PEI;Plaincrazy wrote:Mmmmm. I come from a green and pleasant land far, far away.
I have loads of hobbies though my main hobby at the moment seems to be grandadding for my 3 soon to be 4 grand kids.
They are all tireless bundles of energy but they provide us with much joy.

Re: Location, Hobbies, and Interests
I've 'had' a zillion hobbies, cant sit still type. But this is the hobby Ive had the longest, been playing for 38 years pretty regular. Took 35 years to finally put a band together writing all original music. Dont know why I waited so damn long, its way more fun than covering tunes, altho that can be fun too when the girls are dancin Next on the duration list are brewing beer and stillin, about 20 years for both.
Im the one in the hat. We're no rock stars, and you've never heard of our band. Such is the fate of 99.999% of the musicians in the world, and why I dont try to make the mortgage payment from it.

In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

Like jogging in the woods and billard..
Edit: Oh..yes..i forgot..i like classic rock and going to concerts..

Re: Location, Hobbies, and Interests
Oh and I forgot to mention I am also really into cars. My current project car is a 1977 Bandit Trans Am with the Pontiac 400. This spring I plan on having the body back on the frame so it will at least be a rolling chassis again. I've had the frame and pumpkin all powder coated gloss black and added disc brakes to the rear.

Re: Location, Hobbies, and Interests
did a frame off complete on a '77 Y82 a few years ago with a bud. 400 4 gear with the hurst hatch. it was one of 685 (from 73-78) that that had the rear seat console.
complete, numbers, documented with pedigree to 1981, to factory specifications...(except the inside of the engine, which from the outside looks factory, but sure does not sound it when you light it up)
since your are outside of factory specs, can i recommend heartily the Heidt's Pro-g front sub with coil over, rack and pinion and oversize wilwood braking and the 1.25" splined sway bar (which chromes nicely)
PM if you have a question on first or second gen f-bodies...i'm a fairly good resource.

Yeah I guess it's pretty nice when your two oldest come to you and say" you know you where right"! It's also nice when they tell the youngest "listen to dad ,he knows what he's talking about". But he still doesn't listen.... Oh well

My crowning achievement was after my eldest daughter had been in the USMC for a year.
#1: Dad, I called to tell you those three words you've been waiting for.
Me: "You were right"?
#1: Yup!
I have three daughters...34,32 and 30. I've gotten a LOT smarter in the last ten years or so they say.
