You know... Once it's drinkable....
I don't like your chances of that happening. Stilling is legal here in NZ and we can't give it away.
Technically we aren't supposed to give away homemade beer and wine where I live but no one cares about that. Just don't sell and don't give to minors and all is cool. Once the act of distilling is legal then it won't draw attention from the law.

Y'all got me feelin ornery tonight . Think I'd move my rig out onto the patio , start a 22 gallon strip run of first gen UJ or SF and then invite my BAC ex wife of 30 years and that FBI daughter that lives with her over for an evening get together . Of course I would remove fore shots for safety . If I/they timed it just right they would arrive just after I collected the first half pint of heads . Which I would offer to split in their glasses of lemonade

Seriously, the ADMINS or some entrepreneurial sub-group should start planning the first of many convocations or seminars on distilling techniques in all facets.

This is a market opportunity it's easy to see coming.

The biggest problem we gonna have in Florida is getting it legal on a state level. It's a felony to possess any part of a still or even a bucket of mash. It wud make the arrests a couple of years ago look bad, and politicians don't enjoy that kinda press. I can see it taking years to get our state laws to finally catch up to the federal laws if we catch up at all.

I'd most likely get a 6" plate column going. I'd love to fill a 5 gallon barrel with a single day of stillin.

First, I'd buy the 6-plate 4" bubble cap column from Brewhaus that I've had my eye on for some time now. Partially as a thank you to Rick for his hard work and partially because I always wished my column was modular.

Then I would start planning the first hobby spirits competition.

I'd also open a hobby distilling club, with a good sized building. I don't want to own a distillery ever... I just want to get a license to operate as a research facility. Have every type of still there is, lots of different boilers, an account with a wholesale grain supplier for all the members to order from. Host events where people like Zymurgy Bob and others could come and give talks or workshops. Sign a deal with a cooper to provide the membership base with barrels. Hold classes for people who are interested in learning distilling as a hobby and practicing with different processes and rigs. We could get some of the better fabricators here to teach others how to build. Plenty of books and research materials in the library.

A distilling playground with plenty of power and steam and glycol cooling and....

Well, that's my personal goal. I'm sure some of you guys would be into it. It's my ultimate pipe dream.

And PA is so close to legalizing Pot, we have growers from Colorado setting up here. My boys are friends with a kid who was a manager in Colorado and they are set up and ready to go.

I am also looking at the explosion of micro-breweries and their success after legalizing beer making. They generate a lot of tax dollars, guess time will tell.

And if there's anything a government wants, it's a numb populace.

You might not want to mention that in your letter to your congresscritter though.

I've been wondering if it'd be worth mentioning that the ATF-TTB is supporting it as well... I doubt that my senator is up on their wants and desires.

Congress man Bart Stupak a Michigan Dem, sponsored a house bill to legalize HD. It died in Committee, and his career went belly up in 2011.
