I lost my friend today.

As I came down the stairs this morning I saw my dog Sarge "sleeping" at the base of the stairs which is the first floor hallway.
I thought this was odd because Sarge has full run of the first floor and is usually found sleeping balls up on the couch.
I bent down to pet him before I was off to work but he did not move. This wasn't necessarily odd as Sarge is an American Bulldog and the word bull in bulldog really rung true with Sarge. He was stubborn and did things on his time.
As I stood up a thought flashed through me, is he ok? I bent back down and tried to coax him up, at first verbally and than shaking him, it was as at that time I realized my friend had left me.
I have had many dogs in my life, and unlike children, you are allowed to have a favorite dog. Sarge was my favorite and my buddy. You have all seen him as he is my avatar. I will truly miss him for he was one of kind to me.

Sorry to hear that Windy.
Its always a sad day when you loose a cherished pet and friend. :(
Its easy to see that his life was a good and happy one :thumbup:

I'm very sorry for your loss, I know it personally as I've had a few Bully breed dogs who have also passed.
Right now I have an American Bulldog Jake, he's a good boy but still young - turning 3 this month.

Johnny, so sorry for your loss. I know from talking with you how much he ment to you and your family. I have had dogs all my life and it's always hard when they go. Know that he was happy with you and we should all meet up when we make the big trip. God bless.

I believe . And at the same time it is a scary thought about getting mobbed by 14/15 big dogs at the Pearly Gates . You are already dead to get there .

I really appreciate everyone's sentiments.
Nerdy your dog looks like he could be related to our dog Dunder.
Dunder is the nephew of Sarge and gives me the comfort of still having Sarge's bloodline in our home.

Sorry for your loss!
I never owned a dog of my own, but I like very much to take care of the dogs of my friends. Sometimes it even feels like a co-parenthood. And I miss them even after a week stay.
