Strange box sitting on my front porch when I got home

Big arse box on the porch, with MrsHusker's name on it. I kicked it a little and it was not "too" heavy, but certainly not lite weight either. I always have a little amusement/dread when the wife is shopping for something (most likely on line). Well, this one ranks up there pretty high, on the "unique" list.

I will not post just what arrived. Feel free to "guess" at it. I will list what it was later. I will provide (for real, and I will HONOR this) $100 for anyone that can correctly guess the contents :) I guess it is easier than guessing Rumplestiltskin :)

Edit, the original post mis-quoted the recipient as me, but it was MRS husker (the wife). Sorry for the strangeness of the post.

Good guess, but too simple, and the package was for the wife (or at least she ordered it for me).

Hint #1. It has nothing to do with distilling.

Hint #2. It is a little less strange than left overs from an area 51 alien autopsy.

I guess 'food'.

Probably some kind of smoked sausage collection or some kind of gourmet hamper.

if you where from oz i'd say a big chonk of white oak for ageing nibbled by a woodpecker. hows that for creative thinking. gman

Now that is hell'a creative thinking. but not quite there.

One last hint (I can't give too many, since I got a Ben on the deal).

Hint #4: It alive, before it was dead, before it was lost, before it was found. But it was most useful when it was dead.

(Final answer at Noon, central on the 6th, hopefully with pix, if I can get the camera working).

Answer as many times as you like. But don't simply post pages from a dictionary of objects or something :) Make them real guesses, and 1 per page.

(The mummy was a very cool guess, but not right).

I think its a fish you caught last season and your wife had it stuffed. the taxidermist took his time doing the job and shipped it to your house.

Nice guess, but not right. That woulda been a hell of a nice fish :) The base of the box was the size of fridge box (but not as tall), say 2/5 to 1/2 the size of a fridge box. I aint never caught a monster fish like that before.

Fun game. There were some people who were somewhat close.

What was in the box, was a set of shed Moose antlers. For someone who has only seen whitetail deer (and a couple mule deer, and a few elk), these things are pretty huge.

Here is a pic. NOTE the ruler in the middle is 18" for reference.

Gaaaaahhh, I only saw this just now but after reading #4 I was certain it had something to do with a taxidermist :p.

Sold on ebay. They have a policy that no dead things or body parts can be sold, but there are exceptions for taxidermy items (such as skulls and antlers, and some taxidermy furs).

The dead hint was added due to antlers being dead when on the head of the animal. The only time they are live, is during velvet when they are growing. They are not useful (to the animal), at that time. Their usefulness comes after the velvet (and the antler) dies off.

The "nibbled" on, is due to mice (or something), having nibbled a little on them, I even think one or two of the points was nibbled off, but it might be fight broken.

After hint #4, I was actually concerned that someone might have enough clue to guess. If someone would have said antlers (or a skull mount), I probably would have declared them a winner. That is why I sort of shut up, and stopped with too many hints :)
