NEW SITE APPEARANCE

Post by goinbroke2 »

Nice new site! I came on this morning and went.."what the..." but hey not only does it look better, I CAN LOG IN AT WORK AGAIN!!!
(haven't found the search key yet though)

Love the new look!
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

I'll say it...I'm not exactly thrilled about the new site. There's too much going on and it takes longer to load pages and maneuver through the site. I'm definately a practitioner of the philosophy that if it aint broken don't fix it. I appreciat the effort though Uncle Jesse.

If anyone else liked the avatar on the left side of the posts more than the right, it can be changed back.

I don't see a link back to the parent site. Am I missing it?
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

I agree with everyone, nice change. As mentioned by spiritsprite, you can convert back to the old look by getting the subsilver2. Makes everything back to easy peasy old timey site.

water + flour + yeast = bread

wine + bread = two things I can make at home

Yes, you can convert back to subsilver2 skin.

Simply go to the "User Control Panel" (there should be a link somewhere at the top).

Then, select Edit Global Settings. and under there select board style of Subsilver2 (and click "apply").

It will revert back to the skin you are familiar with (enhanced, but very similar).

Those bots are what search engines use to spider the forum so people can "Google" for information... Every site on the planet gets spidered by bots on a regular basis... The more active the site, the more often it gets spidered - thus the better the search results will be...

A global moderator is someone who has moderator rights across the entire forum rather than only specific sections...

None of this has anything to do with "Big Brother" watching...

New site is shiny and all, but I had two problems with it:
First, avatars are on the right, which confused the heck outta me.

Second, I was having a bunch of trouble telling when one post ended and the next started.

Fortunately, reverting to the old skin solved both of those issues :D.

I guess that I'll get used to it, but as one nudges seventy, radical change is difficult to cope with. However if I wish to continue coming here - which I certainly do - I'll just have to get used to it.

Do as Husker suggested gs. It works and even I've become used to the new look.

Ahhhhhh...

Stuck at it for a while, just couldn't get used to the change.
This is still a fresh view without the strain.

I have to admit going for the sub silver look as well. Just didn't feel right. I kept getting lost.
It appears slower working than the old version and also seems to involve a higher data use which is a bit of a worry for those of us on a small monthly data use ISP plan. I will have to look at just following fewer threads. :(
Cheers.

There are only two "approved" default styles for PHPBB3 right now. If you folks find an "unapproved" one which you really like then let me know and perhaps I will add it.

I use subsilver2, and it has "all" the features.

The bookmark is there. It is right at the top of the thread, and is a text link (i think the other is a button at the bottom).

I can't find the "Mark all topics read" thingy. Is it there or do we no longer have it?

Go to the "container" for one of the forums (say for instance, click on the link for "Off-Topic-Discussion"). When you get to the forum's folder, there should be a link to "mark topics read" or something like that.

You will not see this link when looking at one of the message threads, and I think you see a "mark forums read" if on the main forum menu
