Happy for new toys
Got these for five boxes of federal .45 hollow points... I'm pretty stoked.
Going to age some HBB and slowly start a pot still build.

Re: Happy for new toys
long after the rounds go bang bang, gone,
you'll still have the cask and keg.
Enjoy your new toys!

Looks to be a 5 gallon cask. Keep us updated on your build.

Went to the beer "Brew Off" with my wife at the local grain shop. Folks all set up in the parking lot brewing away and showing off their equipment.
The wife really really really liked the idea of cooking beer outside.
Away from heating up the house.
Away from her new stove.
Looks like I'm the owner of a new toy: Blichmann HellFire!

I have been told then oak barrels are very good quality, have a mate in Florida that has about 10 of them.
Nice score!

That's the one I have, in fact two of them. Great burner but chews through some gas, I still get 2-24 gal runs with it.fizzix wrote:Went to the beer "Brew Off" with my wife at the local grain shop. Folks all set up in the parking lot brewing away and showing off their equipment.

I used it at my Mardi Gras party for the craw fish boil and made Short work of it.
Nice barrel, I have 3 One is filled with a traditional mead and the other 2 are just being water treated to keep tight for some more butter rum later on.

Re: Happy for new toys
That Blichmann Hellfire burner has saved me 1/5 to 1/6 tank on each #20 cylinder, it pays for itself. Get some fire bricks to surround the kettle and yer set.
(We could smuggle ya one copperhead, prolly only cost ya $250 or so unless they confiscate burners at your border or I'm off on shipping rates)
They have pretty thick stainless on that inner burn cylinder... of course the legs are thinner gauge but can hold a 55 gallon mash barrel easily.
Fizzix mine aint got them purty Hollywood legs like yers hate to see a full 55 gallon drum perch'd up thare.

Got the extended legs as I'm 6' 2" and my back doesn't like to bend as much anymore.Reverend Newer wrote:That Blichmann Hellfire burner has saved me 1/5 to 1/6 tank on each #20 cylinder, it pays for itself. Get some fire bricks to surround the kettle and yer set.

Only putting a 10-gallon stainless pot with 7 gallons beer MAX on there. Nice to know she'll get the job done.
Thanks Rev.
Re: Happy for new toys
Now you need to tap into the gas under the wife's stove to hook it up and run it in the house

New aerator: aquarium pump with 3x aerator stones.
Mashed in Still Life's Rye tonight, added the high-temp enzymes and mixed thoroughly. Usually now's a waiting game for the mash to cool to yeast temperature. But based upon a recent post by still_stirrin to a new member, I'm using that cool down time to aerate the 3 buckets of fresh rye with a new aquarium pump and 3 stones.
For a little pump, these suckers are really bubbling away! So thanks, still_stirrin, for this latest distilling tip!
