And they Say stillin is easy

Post by dukethebeagle120 »

To all those Who Say stillin is easy i Say humbug
Its alot easier just going to the store
But then theres quality.
Homemade bar none.
Grinding, malting,drying,mashing
We gotta love IT to Do IT
So to all us stillers, raise your glasses.
We are a spécial breed
its better to think like a fool but keep your mouth shut, then to open ur mouth and have it confirmed

Have to ask. Who is 'they' that said it was easy? Nobody I know that actually has lifted buckets and squeezed grain ever said it was easy.

In fact, I'd probably punch them in the mouth for being a liar and poser. :silent:

But aye. It's for the love of the craft we sweat.

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond."

Swing away, SoCD.
I have learned so much and branched out so far that all I think about is what I'll do next,
rather than if it'll be too difficult. That's thanks to guys like you!
And the quality? P-shaw!
You're correct, duke. Maybe I just enjoy the grinding, cooking, waiting and squeezing too much.

And maybe I need an immense failure to straighten my smart-ass out?

Is it easy? ask my back and sanity
Rye whisky rye whisky oh dont let me down
Gunna have me a drink then gambol around
Here's some fiddle music

I look at distilling as therapy, not work (easy or hard).

To participate in therapy there is a ton of paperwork to be read, and on occasion filled out, on HD.
Picking the proper therapist usually starts with the on-line selection in Tried and True.
Buying grains, sugar, yeast, etc. That’s the co-pay I make for each session.
My therapist said exercise is good so I squish the grains and stir the fermenter with vigor.
For mental exercises I practice Zen watching my spirits age.
Lots of medication on this plan. I like mine on Oak.
Group therapy meetings are occasionally required to advance you wellness, like S3-xx, ADI, and the Portland distillery crawl.

That’s the way I see it anyway. Otis

Stillin is easy. Just watch that damm ass TV show.
It's making the recipe, fermenting and the blending that can be a bitch.
Spend hours mashing the grain.
Days letting the yeast do the magic.
Spending all day watching the still.
Aging for months/years.

But I love her every time.

My Pa used to slap the back of my head when my spirit run was going to fast.
But I do love this.

Where else can you make this variety and share with friends?

So yes, Stillin is easy.

This is a great way of life.

"No lazy man ever made whiskey ." Simmie Free in one of 'The Foxfire Books'.
That's why most of the punk kids today want to grow dope or cook meth . More bang for the buck .
I'll stick with my still .Slower as I get older but still an appreciation of the craft .
If you ain't the lead dog in the team , the scenery never changes . Ga Flatwoods made my avatar and I want to thank him for that .
Don't drink water , fish fornicate in it .
