I'm thankful for the advances in chronic depression treatment as someone close to me who is medicine-resistant is responding to ECT (shock treatment).
I'm thankful for this site as it got my mind right and I'm making some dynamite drinks that close people actually ask for.
And I'm thankful that in these times of what some people call "snowflakes" that we have brave volunteer soldiers giving their all.

I could go on, but those are on the top of my mind and they typed themselves.

I'm thankful to have developed the skills to make adult beverages that help me get through the holidays, and that they give me an excuse to retire to the garage to fiddle with my gear as an excuse to get away from all the nonsense. I see a spirit run on my black Friday.

Hope the rest of you had a great Thanksgiving. We had a small group of family members and this year I decided to cut the turkey with my fillet knife as opposed to the electric knife I have used in the past. Worked well and I also cut it on my larger fish filleting board as opposed to the turkey cutting board with the metal spikes. The larger board worked great as it was easy to catch the drippings without them making a mess. I wanted to smoke the turkey in my smoker as I have never done something that large before but my wife was worried about it so we cooked it the traditional way.

Same here, bushy. We compromised. The grocery store gave us a smaller, 14lb turkey for hitting a certain amount in spending leading up to the holidays. So I'm going to smoke it for Christmas.

If I mess up the Christmas turkey, well, it's not as bad as Thanksgiving. And we still have ham  .

Have to mention a past Thanksgiving memory. Before Mash Rookie was diagnosed with ALS we cooked 10 Turkeys in his glassblowing ovens and he took them in his van down to the homeless camp and fed them. It was a particularly bad year as we had a lot of rain and the homeless camps become swamps.

Most Thanksgiving Days I'm up to my ass in cooking. Not today, yesty afternoon my home boiler decided to crap out. No heat and yep it's a combi so no hot water. Got most parts to fix but not the ignition module and nothing in stock for fifty miles. Ordered part should be here tomorrow. Guess I take the wife to the Casino for diner. Put it all on RED at the table. Fire place was nice last night.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Happy Thanksgiving! Very thankful for this community and this garage alchemy we call a hobby but that feels like an adventure every day.

It’s always been my aunts holiday to host so we’re bringing some of my fiancées jalapeño poppers and a bit of homemade bone broth gravy and that’s all. Maybe a bottle of well-aged ujssm. Been raining here in so cal so it actually feels like the holidays for once, looking forward to a fire at the end of it all. Cheers to you all and have a great one today!

Being that it's that time of the year in the USA.

If you call a large turkey a gobbler, what do you call a small one?
Goblet.

What does Thanksgiving have in common with Halloween?
GOBBLE-INS!

What would you get if you crossed a turkey with a ghost?
A poultry-geist!

Why did the police arrest the turkey?
They suspected fowl play.

What musical instrument did the turkey play in his band?
Drums because he had the drum sticks.

What's a turkey's favorite dessert?
Peach Gobbler of course.

What music did the pilgrims like?
Plymouth Rock

Why do you never put the turkey next to the dessert?
The turkey might GOBBLE it up?

Who is not hungry at Thanksgiving?
The turkey, because he's already stuffed!

Seriously, why did the turkey cross the road twice?
To prove he wasn't a chicken.

My family told me to stop telling Thanksgiving jokes...
... but I told them I couldn't quit "cold turkey."

I'll leave you all with this:
