So all hell is breaking loose again (STATE OF EMERGENCY)
hurricane season in new orleans. the store shelves are running bare, people have the fear. the initial squal line yesterday flooded the entire city because the pumps are a joke.
meanwhile i gots a generator, the means to make fuel out of anything with starch or sugar in it, 1000 rounds of ammo for each of my irons, gas stove, 5 carboys full of clean drinking water, a pirogue, plus a fridge and freezer i just filled with 500 bucks worth of groceries - which i am in the process of cooking all of it so it dont go bad if we lose power. also have 5 bottles of tullamore dew, toilet paper, first aid supplies, and a pair of Dulac Suede Boots aka white shrimp boots. Im not saying im prepared, but being a katrina veteran i am ready for this friggin bayou boogaloo.
heres some shots from my neighborhood yesterday morning. friday night and saturday were supposed to catch about 3x as much rain.

Watch out for the gators and moccasins under your porch. They’ll be following the fish through your front yard. It’s probably a little drier on the north shore though.

We had a huge storm yesterday and the power was out for about 4 hours and it felt like caveman days.
Hell, that was nothing compared to what you poor souls are going through.
Hang in there pal, and may better times come your way.

hopefully the link to the video works. this is what happens when the pumps fail.
and once again thanks for the good words guys. so long as the river levee doesnt breach we should be fine. knocking on all the wood cuz its close to overtopping already.

ya got that right! i could kiss a gator if i had to! hope you and yours stay safe up there.
my pop is over in slidell he said they didnt catch much for rain yesterday. just hot and cloudy. meanwhile cars are floating down my street just 35 miles away or so.
my mom and her old man flew up to SC today so i aint gotta worry about her, she lives here in the city. cant have mama here during the bayouboogalooin.
its my fiances first hurricane situation so she is a little freaked out. im probably not helping much because every time someone asks me what i think i say "thousands will perish"
im trying to find the video of the guy swimming across canal street. wild shit, wild.

official upgrade to tropical storm, and the track has shifted east toward us.
oh, and my bar doesnt close unless we absolutely have to, so looks like my Friday 9pm-till close and Saturday 8pm-till close shifts may combine into one long boogaloo bar party with a nap on the bar couch. Luckily im one helluva seasoned barkeep and I can turn and burn doubles with little rest. though ill hate myself after from all the coffee, redbull, and shots. I do know from experience though hurricane shifts are big money shifts. think the last one I worked i walked with 600 in tips in 9 hours. and i need that money to buy still related hardware. so yall, ima raise a glass to not being obliterated by nature and instead making a profit. or at least not being obliterated by nature.
im sure a bunch of yall are gonna be in the path of the remnants up toward arkansas/TN so raise another glass to everyones safety.
yay daydrinking!

Gotta love it when you see a pic of a guy who kayaked his way over to and tied up outside the bar.

The store shelves are bare. gas lines are long. all the news channels are on FULL BOOGALOO BLAST. everyone i know is debating if this is gonna be anything serious or if its gonna be a situation where some weather variable spares us any serious flooding and wind.
THE EVENT AS I PREDICT BASED ON MY VAST HURRICANE STAYCATION EXPERIENCE.
im pretty sure were gonna get pissed on for 2 days, the sewerage and waterboard(JOKE) is gonna drop the ball... were gonna have some pretty widespread street flooding paired up with 70+mph winds, and its going to keep stalling out and moving at 5mph or less as it has been. thus were gonna get flooding beyond just streets while it continues pouring kitties and dogos. some parts of the city are gonna remain flooded for a few days because the pumps and the powerplants and generators are crap, and the people that run and maintain them probably should have taken careers as carnival workers or some shit. entities outside of local and state govt are not gonna show up in any timely fashion to help - because this city is the one care forgot. our own country, the bayou republic of new orleans. a great many of us identify as new orleanians in terms of nationality, especially since BOOGALOO KATRINA. other entities such as the power company stage all their trucks, subcontractors trucks, equipment and men a couple hundred miles north. this will be in the storms path and they will not move until the remnants have passed. they will work every power outage and line all the way down in order till they get to us, LAST. most of the city will probably be without power for a week or more. supplies will be meager. price gouging will HAPPEN. lines will be insane. the people will be a depressed panic.
over the course of a month or so everything will return to normal.
i have done this little slow storm situation so many times, as in issac back in 2012. this is the fun part. drinking, partying, trying to make the best of our wild little town and its strange situations.
in 2 hours im headed around the corner to the bar to work. had a crowd till 8 am this morning. im gonna close probably around 3 tonight and try to get home.
we have a bunch of friends staying with us, some of my buddies and like 3 of my SOHs gorgeous friends. the girls all live alone and havent ever ridden out a storm. my boys live in areas that are far more likely to flood already and we almost always ride out storms together. all of these friends are single so they all smiling like a pig in shit. our friends and neighbors are hanging with us on the porch, cutting up, drinking, laughing, and waiting.
the HOT, HUMID, DARK, DANK aftermath will be lame. 90 degrees, 97% humidity, no AC. everything in your house will be moist. your bed will feel like a dish sponge that was lightly squeezed out no matter how many clean sheets you put on it. etc etc etc
RIght now, im a busy bee taking a break to have some nicotine and whiskey and type this post.
as for my personal activites today - between shots and jokes with everyone - im covering the bases by getting ready for work and finishing my prepping. got my big fermenters im about to cleanem real good and fill up 50 or a hundred gallons of clean water. got my guns loaded and in their tactical positions. important shit put up high. food ready to go in the ice chests. freezing water in a bunch of 3, 6, and 9 pans so i have lots of big blocks of ice. got my flashlights, batteries, liquor, etc all in line. all the items for the hurricane preparedness kit. got my bag packed with extra clothes, a mini "bugout" version of the hurricane prep kit ready to take to work with me. landfall early tomorrow morning possibly most likely as a hurricane that will mostly be a rain event in NOLA which inspires the events i described above in my prediction.
i hope that post came out some what coherently as i dont have time to proof read
yall have a good one, drink one for me, ill post back when i get a chance next and update yall as to the accuracy of my or anyone elses storm outcome prediction.
as i always say THOUSANDS WILL PERISH, we will be just fine.

Uneventful for the city of New Orleans thus far. South of here and west of here got hammered. I think we're due for a shitload if rain still but not anything like they said. Thank God
