Little or nothing to do with distillation.

Mike from American Pickers - image of a still on his shirt

Post by Single Malt Yinzer »

I was watching it tonight and he was wearing a shirt with a drawing of a still with a worm in tub condenser. Wonder if he's on here...

He has in previous episodes picked up a few old school copper stills, they were pretty rough but could be brought back to life if they weren't done with lead solder.
People say that I'm a bad influence. I say the world's already f#cked -- I'm just adding to it.

The pickers buy and sell Americana. I doubt if they have enough "free time" to do any of our hobby. Rather, they'd appreciate it if we would buy the copper "junk" they buy...and at the prices they want to collect. The things they pick up are mostly for show...they're more pieces of artwork from a time gone by.

As for Mike Wolfe wearing a T-shirt with a still graphic on it...well, that's just good marketing, now isn't it? The clowns on that other Discovery show might appreciate the copper hardware that Mike & Frank stumble upon. Who knows...maybe the Discovery network is using their media to capitalize on a trend...if not, even to influence that trend.

Speculative, at best. But...YMMV.

We have a local distillery and I am not sure how he got them to pose but the actors on the moonshiners took a photo op in his distillery t-shirts.

The distillery is called Chuckanut Bay Distillery. They are moving into a new location, bigger building and I believe opening a restaurant as well.
