Cool. That makes up for the price increase that came from the steel tariffs this year.

Thanks for sharing. I am a fan of this place and am lucky enough I can visit their store and work shop once and a while.

Thanks for this! Now to answer the age-old sale question 'do I really need anything anyway'. Because I don't... do I?

Ha! Like I need another hole in my head! I'm finally ordering all the fittings for my steam rig and all I can look at is another 3" sightglass for $72...

Is there such a thing as a 12-step program for this affliction?

I have been thinking of taking my welding skills up a notch and getting weld tees, elbows, and reducers to make a 4" diameter steam generator pipe, but I'm holding off a bit. At least 'til the new year. I was chasing my tail with bad copper welds these past several weeks 'til I stopped using romex and sprung for deox copper rod (finally). Stainless is going to feel easy after copper.

And I still need to see my buddy's finished rig and take some pics to share! The easiest part of the build was your plates and baffles!

Kyeah! Get down on it! Always love to see other folks' rigs, especially if I've been able to contribute in some way.

Impatiently waiting for your photos!

Re: the 4" steam pipe, that sounds like it would move a massive amount of heat. Does this mean 2" steam pipe is way better than 1"?

I’m just going to try copying this build but with more welding because I like to make things difficult.

Sorry, it took a second to grasp what we’re talking about - 4” for the body. I’ve been using 1/2” Id silicone tubing to run steam between a steam keg and the still, I would like to use copper but might skip over that phase and do a stainless pipe fitting. If I welded all the pipes together I’d probably do 1” so that everything would be standard 1-1/2 tc fittings which is most common for my setup.

Ah, gotcha. I really like that steam generator. Compact, inexpensive, effective. Plus it shows an understanding of the principles of steam - something I'm just beginning to comprehend.

Step 1: Admit you have a problem. (check)
Step 2: Stop looking at distillation porn. (fail) - You must get over the admiration of those juicy easy access entry ports, the polished/shiny bits that show all those curves in just the right places, molded and joined in perfection. The lust for gauges that tell you when things are getting hot. You must stop impure thoughts of running your hand down the neck feeling the warmth building ever so slowly in your column just waiting to produce those long awaited fluids ready to start slowly dripping out at any time.
...
Your not ready for step 3. LOL

LOL! How eloquent (and accurate) you are!

No wonder some here refer to their rigs affectionately as ‘she’, carry around pictures of them, and even have two! I guess I don’t have it as bad as others...

LOL Carlo. TB, if that's the case my SO should definitely be jealous of the mistress(es), as I spend a lot of time with or just thinking about them both. Eek I do have a problem..

Pretty funny.
BTW, another step forbids the carrying of small snakes.
