Loves me some gritty cyberpunk.

What did you think of 2049?

Was worried it would be more action than scifi thriller but didn't disappoint imo.

Yeah, had a similar concern; Villeneuve did a good job though.

Hopefully he doesn't screw up Dune...

Dune never translated well to film for me.

Really have to agree. The book was better by a long shot and the studios always did a halfassed job. Maybe if they had treated it more along the lines of Star Wars shows by serializing it rather than cutting corners to cram it into a short story.

I think that Herbert's style is too intricate, too verse and interior monologue driven for there to be a TRUE adaption. I really enjoyed the book series, been through it a couple times.

That said, I so really enjoy (despite some faults) the 84' Lynch movie. The casting, music and visuals were on a level like nothing else for it's time. I enjoy it as it's own entity.

That said if Villeneuve can pull off the first book there is hope we'll get to see later elements like Omnius, which I think would translate well, and we finally have the resources to make into a movie.

Not yet, I'll have to check that out.

Another major book series I'm looking forward to seeing on tv is Asimov's Foundation.

Issac Asimov and Philip K Dick, well that covers most of my fiction section here at home.
Does anyone have any idea if you will have to have "Apple TV" to see the Foundation?

From the tag at the end of that preview I would say yes

The Foundation Trilogy was the first major book (series) I read. That was back in 5th grade. Gave me my start in SF.
