Adding apple juice to a thumper

Post by buddyjeff »

I made an apple mash it's been about 6 weeks and still getting bubbles out of the air lock so when it's ready to run can I add apple juice to a thumper to get a better apple flavor this is my first fruit mash I made can't wait to distill it but I don't want to be disappointed with the finished product and have no apple flavor

Most definitely. Apples, apple juice, apple donuts — throw them in the thumper.

I am on the same voyage of discovery. Can any give an indication as to how much juice to volume of charge etc? I have no idea as to what ratios to aim for. Thanks in advance. Jimy D

I have added part apple juice instead of water when proofing. Be careful as you can over due it and it will taste like apple pie.

Would that really be a bad thing?
