6" pressed flange copper modules

The goal is to make a good still at a reasonable price, and to give the craft (and eager home) distillers an affordable still that has the flexibility to fit their needs.

And also provide a still made from copper that isnt just a hotch potch of imported parts. Something the owner can be proud to use and own, something that performs as good as it looks.

My real hope is that owners of these stills could make products that are award winning in national and international competitions. Given that some distillers using somewhat similar stainless steel stills have reached that level, I dont think its unrealistic.

I don't know the price but I would say mission accomplished

Very nice empty! . They have a totally different look to the 4", quite unique . Will there be a module option with feed lines and drains for someone that might want to run two side by side?

That looks great. Is that just bare brushed copper, polished, or some type of lacquer finish? I'd like to see pictures of your dies that you use for pressing if you don't mind sharing.

Well yes I know EG's thread is titled 6" but this post is relevent,as you
Know EG is making flanges I my self have no use for 6" and he does make 4"!
To my surprise I received a package from Australia last week and it turned out to be some pressed ferrels from EG,he has trusted me to test them out and see if they will work and how they work with our DWV tube we have here.
The ferrels fit perfect not so tight they have to beat in and not so loose they are hard to take solder (soft or hard) the gap between tube and ferrel seems to take solder well,I was a bit worried about the softness of the clamping surface but that was soon gone once I clamped up the packed section full of scoria and added my reflux condenser/delphlag and did some pulling back and forth at the top,all is good and strong,so all in all ya hit a home run EG!!!!

Then that's my route :] the soldered sections still have plates, right? It'd be cheaper to not have to buy all the gaskets and triclamps too.

Depends on if you want to go for a modular (or sectional) design, or a solid column. Advantages and disadvantages for both.

The solder on ferrules can be used in place of stainless steel weld on ferrules, so you can use them to mount a solid body still, fabricate your own modules very affordably, use them to mount reflux condensers or make packable sections.
Or anywhere else a use is seen.

They also avoid the difficulties joining stainless to copper.

Been a while since I updated this thread.

Sorry to those I havn't been able to supply the 4" ferrules to. The 6" stuff has kept me very busy.

I'm now able to give some approximate figures.
Seems 12 litres/3.2 gal an hour is a walk in the park from a 8 to 10% wash, giving 92% across the bulk of the run.
Low wine runs seem a lot faster, but not enough feedback yet to quantify.

Along with the great output figures come a great increase in fuel/energy and cooling water needed. But hey, if you wanna go fast theres a cost.

So far theres been no issues with the units themselves, materials and manufacturing processes have proven sound.

Vodka/neutral production testing is next, along with carter head/gin basket testing

Bought some copper ferrules off eBay ($22.50 per 2" ferrule)..Your 4 and 6" ferrules looks nice also.
Make for an all copper modular.

500 litre (132 gal) Stainless steel boiler with bolt on copper dome, 6 plate 6 inch still with packable section (as pictured) with carter head for gin and utility basket.
The stills in the background are 5 plate 4 inch for scale.

All flanges pressed directly on the copper modules.
All Australian made (from local and imported ingredients)

@Worm_Drippinz as these are mostly custom jobs, the price varies according to the order but they are cheap in terms of the competition.
