Thanks for the invitation, Bushman. No, not my boat. We are renting one for 3 days. To help us make up our mind on what kinda boat we want. After the first day of sailing, I think that the current boat at 12m60 long and 4m10 wide and 4m50 high is a bit too big. We wanna use the boat for mostly inland cruising. And it will be just the two of us with some of the kids occasionally visiting. Got my eye on a 10m70 long and 3m60 wide and 3m70 high one that offers 4+2 berths, two showers and two toilets ... But my mind might change as the weekend progresses.

I'll keep you posted.

Second day on the waters. Today we visited the beautiful old city of Sloten. Sailed some 5 hours. Currently tied up for the night. The mss. did the ropes. Fingers crossed as a storm is gathering.

I Googled images of Friesland and it looks like a beautiful area. One of the things I would like to do in Norway or Europe is lease a boat and cruise exploring the area. What I learned running my friends boat in Norway is that some of the markers do not necessarily have the same meaning as navigational markers in the US.

Today and tomorrow we'll be making rum, using the all new iStill 500 Performance Plate. She performed amazingly well. Heads cut of around 0.4 liter. Hearts from 8% to 65% barrel aging proof in one go. Amazing tails control: we collected hearts until 99.5C, very, very close to what's basically the boiling point of water. After that we collected another three to four liters of tails and that was it. We'll be filling up a new barrel pretty soon.

The picture underneath shows the barrel (filling it with water to rehydrate it) with the plated iStill 500 on the background. Picture courtesy to Robert, Finance Department, and hobby / amateur photographer.

Hi folks,

One of Japan's oldest Sake producers, and probably the most esteemed one, chooses iStill. Here is their feedback on the iStill Distilling University and the iStill 2000:

Pretty cool, can’t believe how far you have come from hobby to fulfilling a dream. I remember years ago when you were debating continuing in business I believe accounting or starting down this path. I am glad we have been able to meet up several times in different countries (Canada, US, Netherlands) to do distillery tours. Actually I came up to Canada to see you installing and setting up a distillery.

I consider you a good, yet far away friend, Bushman. Yes, you visited when we were setting up a distillery in Vancouver. I think the next time you were in Amsterdam and we visited my (starting) facilities and toured Amsterdam a bit. Jenever, red light district (just cruising!), good food. Third time was when I stayed with you. I think I had some business meetings in both Vancouver and Portland and we went to a distillers show together with some other old-timers from this forum. Great fun! We even had a bbq, where Big Bob and many others were present.

Yeah, my background is in business administration, with a specialization in change management. The step to move my hobby into a profession was quite a leap of faith in hindsight. At the time it made perfect sense. And it has paid off well. Even though the start-up years were very difficult with a lot of push-back. Now a clear transition seems to take place. Corona in fact helps people reconsider what they look for in a distillery and with 63% growth year over year, during this Corona Crisis, while others are clearly suffering ... yeah, it's change management all over again, yet more fullfilling.

Bushman, wait until you visit us next time. You'll be blown away by our new and expanded facilities!
