I built some new barrel racks for my 15 and 30 gallon barrels out of 4x4 posts and carriage bolts. What do y'all think?

Re: New Barrel Racks
nice!
i was getting a little giddy looking at all those barrels, i thought they were 53gallon until i re read the post.
are you worried about the corner of the 4x4 biting into a small area/single stave on the barrel or doesn't matter? i'd be concerned about a leak.
is the cooper a trade secret? i'd like to try out 15gal.

Re: New Barrel Racks
Forklift is used to get them to higher levels. Cooperage isn't a secret, these all came from The Barrell Mill, #3 char. Not worried about leaks with the racking system, there's plenty of bearing surface area. My oldest bourbon in these 15 gallon barrels is only about 8 months old. I'll be pulling samples next week for my first check on their progress.

Re: New Barrel Racks
Half of the barrels are 66% corn, 17% barley, 17% rye. The other half are 66% corn, 17% barley, 17% wheat. I'm filling 15 gallon and 30 gallon now and hope to start filling a few 53 gallon barrels soon for more long term aging. The plan is to eventually ween myself off the small barrels. Because for bourbon they have to be brand new, the small barrels are really cost prohibitive long term. A new 15 gallon barrel costs the same as a 53, so effectively three times as expensive
