Neutral grain spirit pricing

Post by Homebrew »

Hello

I am formulating a business plan for a small scale gin and vodka production business.

I can cost everything, except for the price of NGS.

I am not applying for a bonded warehouse (at this stage), so I will be paying the £28.74 + VAT per litre for the HMRC duty.

I can find suppliers online, but they won't provide pricing since I'm not trading yet.

Does anyone know the price of a 205 litre drum in the UK?

Thanks

I attended the tasting and tour at city of london distillery last night, and they mentioned they pay 60p per liter. (excluding tax, of course)

Cheers

Likely the wholesale alcohol will require redistillation before it would be drinkable as either gin or vodka; i.e. contains both heads and tails.

Something you might want to factor into your plan.

Hi, I work at a craft distillery in the UK. Due to the current need for NGS for hand sanitiser, the price has gone up slightly. A general rule of thumb is the its roughly £1.90 per LPA. You will of course have to add duty and tax to this, and delivery.

Just as another noting point. I read someone said you will have to redistil this. This is not true. We used to do this for all of our NGS, until we did a blind triangle study with final product, and found that there was no noticeable difference between bought in NGS and redistilled NGS. It is therefore more cost effective to no do this.

I hope that this helps. Please feel free to ask any questions

Generally €1.40 per litre
That is the price per 1000l cube, probablly slightly more for a 205l drum

Used to be about $3/gallon. Not sure now after Covid.
