Cross Flow Condensers

Post by LWTCS »

Hey gang just a heads up for those of you that like to get a bit more esoteric.

I've got hobby sized cross flow condensers now. These are designed with the intended purpose of pre-heating your beer by using your beer as a cooling medium.
This technique translates well for continuous distilling as well as conserving energy. Or more specifically reducing the delta T between alcohol flash temps and heat up time.

The condensers are 2" wide and 40" long. There are 4 rifled, 19mm through tubes. With only 4 tubes you'll be able to run grain in without clogging. And the rifling will mitigate the lost efficiency associated with only having 4 tubes in the shell.

The will perform more optimally if installed horizontally, but certainly vertical installation will indeed work too.

Cheers.
