the box have 2 SCR controlles for stilling and a PID for brewing. each controller isisolated with a double pole 30A isolater. and couplers is 32A industrial.

the PID can be on while the outlet is isolated. the SCR on the right is not wired yet, it will be on its own line.

onboard i have an earth leakage and overload protection. wire is 4mm. it will drive a 4Kw element.

what bothers me is my Amp/Volt meter readings drop as soon as i switch the SCR on. the volts will read 220V before load but as soon as the heater recieves current the volts drop and the amps read low for the heater rating.

the volt meter is connected before the SCR the CT is after the SCR.

is it resistance from the heater or cheap meter?

How much is it dropping by ? 10-20 volts ?

This may be because you are getting a voltage drop along the cabling from the fuse box

it drops between 5 and 8 volts. althoug i am about 15m away from my distribution box the line running to my shed is part a 10mm line and then i tap into that with 4mm line.

i see the same drop if i use the SCR on my coffee kettle inside the house.

last, i use prepaid electricity. i wonder if the utillity service maybe throttle?

I said fuse box as I was in a hurry , but yeah , its the whole distribution cable to basically your nearest distribution transformer .
Every house has some drop .
The higher the load we use the higher will be the drop and seeing we are using quite large loads ... in excess of 2400w or more , what you are seeing 5-8V drop , is fairly typical .

If you plugged say a 100w light globe ( instead if your element ) , you will find the voltage will drop barely a volt .
