Calculating btu?

Post by googe » Thu May 05, 2016 2:04 am

I have a 600 kpa regulator connected to a three ring burner. From what I know, the three ring is rated at 100,000 btu?.

Greatest efficiency is usually minimum yellow flame. Adjust the air window...but efficiency and max burn are two dif things.

I calculate BTU based on heatup time. Use the mothership calculator to...find watts needed to heat your boiler in an hour. Then convert that watts to BTU. Watts times 3.4 i.e. 1,000watts = 3,400btu

tater, I run it at around 100kpa in spirit runs and it has a nice blue flame. But anything over say 150kpa it starts turning yellow, even when playing with the vents. Over 150 and when I adjust vents, the flame lifts and tries to go out, if I back the vent off it goes yellow again, can't seem to get blue flame at high kpa?. Thanks dad, will look into that.

Id think your blue flame just before turning yellow with correct air mix is max burners will handle

Would drilling the burner holes/outlet help?.
