Hey all,
Curious about the design of the kegland alcoengine pot still condenser.
The condenser coils enter and exit the main body of the condenser and the holes do not appear to be sealed.
Is this a design feature for pressure release or should these be plugged with flour paste?
Thanks!

A friend has one of these. All of the vapour should be condensed before reaching the lower end of the PC unless you are running the boiler so hard that the PC cannot knockdown all the vapour.

Looking at some other photos on the net , It seems that just how they chose to do it, lazy, easy and cheap.
As kimbo said all the vapour should be condensed well before it enters that part of the still, it shouldnt be an issue.

Ahh, good point on the physics behind the angled design… that makes total sense.
Thanks for the help!

Dimroth condenser, requires a shit ton of water but appears to manage an output of 3-4 litres per hour on a stripping run. My friend uses a sump pump in a 1000 litre IBC for a recirculating cooling water system for this still.

I have this one & also the reflux head.
FWIW: The only time I've seen/heard/smelt vapors coming out is when I wasn't properly watching the column temp rise & hadn't turned on the condenser water yet.
It works for me & was at an excellent price point.
Just my opinion,
