I’m making pot still with worm. I would like to use the creek that is on my property to cool the worm. The worms I have seen all drain from the bottom. I would need to have the tube come out of creek and be high enough to colet product. With having the tube come out lie that and added height, will it cause a problem with or back pressure?
Thank you

Re: Worm question
Do not do this. Just fill the bucket with water from the spring.

Re: Worm question
You'll get more efficient cooling by plumbing the chill water into the bottom and letting it out through an overflow in the top. Or you can do what i finally did and go with a shoygun condenser and forget the worm.
Re: Worm question
Then you need pumps and all that jazz to make it work.
I have a shotty I built and still haven't hooked it up because of that reason.

I used a worm where I had no power or town water. (Distilled on bottled gas.)Shine0n wrote:Then you need pumps and all that jazz to make it work.

And I expect to use it again now that I am in the town.

Re: Worm question
If I had a creek running through my property and a little slope to the land, I'd be playing around with a homemade hydraulic ram pump. There is much Internet information available about this old, not so familiar type of pump... This is just one of many videos on the topic.archerobx wrote:.....I would like to use the creek that is on my property to cool the worm.....

Let gravity an nature work for you. As long as you have a good head (source higher than your cooler) let the water run in at the bottom of yer worm bucket, absorb heat and exit at the top. You gradually cool yer vapor rather than shock cool it.
Double, Double, toil and trouble. Fire Burn and pot still bubble.
