Oldvines mini shotty

Post by Oldvine Zin »

I need a mini condenser for my mini boiler and soon to be built mini pot head. 12"'s of 1 1/2' copper pipe with 3 - 3/8' pipes inside. Also a couple of 3/4" tri clamps for cooling in and out.

I was inspired by Twisted's ez condenser end plates viewtopic.php?f=87&t=67972, if I was going to make a 2" it would of been a no brainer to order a set of his plates. I started with a couple of 1 1/2" long ferrules and sliced about 1/2" off of them to use as an insert and cap holder, soldered a couple rough cut copper disks to them and after a few turns on the lathe ended up with this:

A perfect insert for the top and bottom, made a couple of drilling templates:

Made a few tubes with a flange for the top:

I'll probably put all of these parts together this weekend

Nice work OVZ.. wish I had your lathe available to me.. miss that equipment..

I've done a PC using 1.5 x 14" pipe with 5 - 3/8" tube with baffles on 12" cooling area.. work really well on my 3" flute..
(All done by hand, as I don't have a lathe)

Beautiful work, OVZ! When (if) I make a smaller shotty I think I'm gonna go with your dimensions. It seems everything about them add up to success and being efficient.

You're killin' me with that lathe. Oh, the possibilities!

Nice job. Can't wait to see it once its completed.
