Pot still condenser

Post by scmoose »

Better condenser for a 15 gallon boiler with 2” column going into a 5 gallon thumper via 3/4”? Liebig or worm? Does one use less water than the other? Reason I ask is I just did a first run of just water using the Liebig condenser but the output seamed to spit and sputter, hard to get a steady stream. I believe the Liebig is 3/4” over 1/2” down to 1/4” output tube. No steam coming out, I guess I just thought I would be able to keep a steady stream.

When running straight water in the boiler you will get crazy condenser action. With the vinegar It will be without cooling to keep the steam live and then when the sacrificial alcohol run is made you will be able to dial in a steady stream.
As liebig vs worm water consumption is based on energy in so you manage that.

Good to know, planning on vinegar run in the next day or so, followed by sacrificial UJSSM.
