Triangle Biomedical Sciences SR -12

In our view 30 gallons and under is considered hobby size. Do not bring anything larger than this to our site.

Triangle Biomedical Sciences SR -12

Post by ShineonCrazyDiamond »

First know, this is not something I am considering. I am happy with my 2 keg stills. I made them, I love them, don't want nothing else.

I have a family member that just came into this piece of equipment. It's a $14,000 solvent recycler that is his for a few hundred. I did not know he was even interested, never had a chance to say build your own.

Anyways, I just want to make sure he is being safe, I know nothing about these things. Apparently medical facilities can use them to make alcohol, and he bought it off someone who was making some shine with it. I say that don't automatically make it safe, but I don't know what the heck it is, thought maybe someone here could tell me.

Is this safe for our purposes?

First thing I see in that PDF is the advertised RadAway technologies. I bet there are a few new folks here trying to figure that one out themselves! :lolno:

10 ltr is pretty small.

The Fractionater needs to go, along with the carboys.

There is not enough information on the internals to make a safety call.

I laughed at the brocher and its 'Rad away' :-)

They are stating 3 Gallons in 6 hours, but it says nothing about the containts of the liquid.
It really is a good deal, but unfortunatly there is not enough information about the materials of this apperatus to judge the safety aspect.
To me it looks like a 10L airstill made out of stainless steel, that would be for sure as it is medical equipment.
Hopefully there are no syntetics in this apperatus, touching the productline..

I somehow doubt that the Rad away will work in our particular case. May the wrath of Kahn... I mean Rad begin.

I'd turn it in for scrap metal n go make a real still. That thing is made to recycle achohol used in medical procedures. No way would it be safe to ingest anything coming out of it. :silent:

I would not use it... my concern would be what contaminates would be in this thing from use? I know of a shop that used one to clean there varsol tank and was used for engine parts and cleaning newly machined stuff. The problem is some of the oils in some engines are horrible cancer causers...

I'd be afraid... but that is me... Also as mentioned the size is very small.
