Sheet comes in rectangles.
Seems like it would be a lot more efficient to build box tanks than barrels.

less welding on a cylinder than a cube. rolling metal is easier than braking it.

Round stills don't flex as much as flat sided boilers if you are running a thumper or don't like the huffing that you already get from most round boilers, (which will be exaggerated by having flat sides).
Other than that, use what you've got. Submarine stills aren't round and produced a lot of moonshine in their heyday.

Round is a more even distribution of heat when heated directly underneath

I'd also say most cooking pots are round. Probably evolved from there.
I have seen some old rectangular still pots that they called box wagon stills. fit in the bed of a box wagon.

For all of the simplicity and natural advantages of round, if you aren't set up for large scale vessel construction it can be difficult to produce.
At that point squarish becomes easier to execute.
