Hey All -
My boiler setup is the 110v grainfather with alembic pot still. This unit has dual 1600 watt and 600-watt elements and the newer control box which allows for direct power control mode and not just temp. My question is around the spirit run using the 110v version. In various videos online I’ve seen it suggested to turn the power down to 60%, however they are usually using a 220v version in the videos. Does anyone here run the 110v and what power setting are you using for your spirit runs? On a striping run I get a broken stream as it is.
Cheers.

Re: 110v grainfather boiler power for spirit run
There should be no difference between the 120 and 220/240V units as long as the power is the same, which I think it is. (presumably the 110V element is lower resistance and higher current to achieve the same power).
Re: 110v grainfather boiler power for spirit run
The element on the 220 version is 2000 watts. So a bit more power. I’ll just continue to play around with it and focus on the product at the spout and aim for the single drips.

Re: 110v grainfather boiler power for spirit run
Slightly off topic...
I have never made a grain mash, but I plan to.
My still is nearly set up again, to run on an electric element. It was gas, before.
First I will run some sugar ferments,
and brandy if I can get onto some fruit that cannot be sold by local orchardists.
Some time ago I was keen on buying a braumeister to make whisky with.
To make the mash, nothing to do with actual distillation.
Because that is how my nephew makes his grain mash, and the whisky is nice.
But those Braumeister's are very expensive; he can afford one and I can't.
Most here seem to make all grain mash without relying on the automated system,
so that is what I will do.

because I've used power meter sometimes and it shows both mains voltage and watts. I think that 2kw rating is at 240volts maybe.
