I modified my 30l keg today. Made an opening and found a way to close it once the still is in operation. I am worried about the height of the pipe i welded there. Here's the pic -
Will it be a problem when I fire up the still? I am using one element, 3kw, with a SCR.
Will the length of my entrance hole be a problem?

Re: Will the length of my entrance hole be a problem?
I see no problem if it does not prevent the path to the column no problem.
Re: Will the length of my entrance hole be a problem?
Thank you.
It does not prevent the path to the column. The column is attached to the smaller hole in the pic.
I was just slightly worried because this is my first still I will build, and the entrance pipe is longer than anything I saw on the net.

I thought this was a start of a dirty joke by the thread title. Or somebody bragging...

Re: Will the length of my entrance hole be a problem?
The only problem would be if the attachment protrudes and interferes with the attachment of the column.

That's the humor that comes out of me being a non native English speaker:)
Entrance doesn't interfere with the copper column. I should be all set. Need to install the heater and have an eletrician connect it to the SCR and I should be ready for a vinegar and sacrificial run.

From the look of it, it should work well. Good luck.

it will work , I have a similar fill port (not as nice as the pictured one , mine is weldless bulkhead with a reducer above it) and it works well
