Self Circulating Boiler?

In our view 30 gallons and under is considered hobby size. Do not bring anything larger than this to our site.

You could try making an internal chimney, a piece of 3' copper notched to straddle your

element, extend 2-3" above the element. I may create convection from the heat of your

element to pull the bottom mash up past your element. even copper sheet in the form

of a tent with largeish holes at the top might circulate the lowest and theoretaclly coolest

to above the element and into the rising heated mash. I can't see how it could hurt if you

have any materials to try it. a 2" would be a no go, but when you said 4" the door opened.

stainless parts would work also. good luck.

As stated earlier, myself have a boiler with a very pronounced concave bottom. My heater sits above >20lt of charge. I recently installed a thermowel about 50mm lower and 100mm to the side of the heater. On heat up my thermometer sits at 20*C for about 3/4 of the time, then it will rise to 30*C slowly, and just before the plates start loading the temp will shoot to 83 to 85*C.

So convection does the stirring on time.
