I am using a keg as the boiler for my new still, and I want to keep the top bit with the threads so I can screw in the rest of the still. However, I want to be able to open it up for cleaning, installing element, etc. So what I want to do is cut an opening with an oxy-acetylene torch or something, and then get another keg and cut off part of the top (at a wider radius) and bolt that onto the first keg, like this:
So it's just like a normal keg until I need to open it and then I can just unbolt it.
Would this be any good? Has anyone done it before? If so, how did it go and do you have any advice?
