So mad I couldn't make it, this year. Gonna do my best for next year. On a side note, I have almost a fifth of my best Boka'd Gerber on its way to Boom. I was sending it, hoping it would be there for Jedfest, for all to enjoy. Unfortunately, I thought the festivities were next weekend. C'est la vie.

Getting on highway. GPS shows 3 hours plus a stop for gas along the way. Please don't delay any feasting due to my late arrival! Just happy to be on my way. Also, bringing a last minute guest, Jed, I hope that is ok.

You all can stop posting food pics now, I'm at work and there is a puddle of drool at my feet! Lol. Seriously looks like a great time. Hope to meet you all at woodsheds! Great job on the trophy, boomtown! That is a nice piece of work and I'm sure 100 years from now it'll still be passed around full of engravings or little copper plates with names on it.

And make sure to try some of the lemonade with a good neutral or white dog, or without alcohol. Still trying to bribe the recipe out of my mother lol.

Hopefully, in many years, it will end up looking like the Stanley Cup... Where they have to keep adding layers to the bottom.

Regarding 'Diamond's bottle pic... Wow! I wish my bottle could've made it on time. Would've loved to have had it in that company. As it is, its spending a cold night in some UPS hub, somewheres...

Well, the Lady Di and I have returned safely to our nest here in DC. Jedfest for us is a history item, and I has to be said that our host, Jed, and his lovely Stacy certainly set the bar high for the next time.

Jed, as it turns out, is something of a Mountain Chef, of the highest caliber. The venison was juicy, could be cut with a fork, and it was accompanied by roast chickens, a stuffing, that would have people in DC lined up around the block for. Flanked by mashed potatoes and gravy, a delicious rice casserole, collard greens, mango steak salad, several different breads, a marvelous pulled beef with a prosciutto and provolone cheese, a pumpkin pie made from scratch, and an apple pie. I know I probably forgot a dish or two, but I've got an excuse.

Before dinner, during dinner, and after dinner, the sipping and tasting was in full swing. I'm not going to list the offerings, because it would be a grievous injustice to omit any...let me simply say...wow! These boys are making some mighty fine stuff, and everyone of them is special.

People came from south of Richmond VA, as far north as Connecticut, from Michigan, and from around Pennsylvania, and everyone was gracious, warm and friendly. Di and I left about 7:30, wanting to get home for chores tomorrow...but several of the 'good ol boys and girls' were still there popping those corks! Bet they are still at it as I tap out this salute.

Thanks Jed, we had a fantastic time, and you and your family were spectacular has hosts. Look forward to seeing you all again at the next excuse we can find.

Enuf food there wasn't room for much booze. There was not a lack of either. Of all that were here randy is young than I thought and cornhusker is older than I thought. One round of tasting was enuf booze to enebrate a mere mortal. All was good, some better some worse, but good. In the end the three of us end up pouring our own to drink. Will do better post tomorrow after some sleep. I woke up at 4am an couldn't fucking go back to sleep. Thanks to all that came to jedfeast.

Total unbridled success! Jed & Mrs. Jed & family are absolutely top notch hosts, warmly welcoming all us renegades into their beautiful home. Jed lives in God's country, up in the hills, and quite off the path! Very special place to call home for sure.

The feast was truly of Thanksgiving proportions, everything creative and delicious. I can second Boom's review of the venison, it was particularly tender and tasty! Got to try Moosemilk's special lemon syrup drink with the meal, gotta find and post that recipe, Moose!

Oh, and people brought some whiskey! Wow. It was beyond my expectation how much and how many different spirits were brought in and made available for tasting. I'll honestly say I didn't taste one thing that I didn't like. And I think I tasted a little bit of everything there. What a great opportunity to get to experience the similarities and differences in the spirits we make. Very very impressed by the qualities. Boomtown had focused on perfecting his whiskey over years and it really shows. It is a top shelf and refined drop. Served from a jug. ShineOn brought several bottles, his oaked UJ feints being my favorite, lots of character, very smooth. Randy's maple spirit is really nice, very elegant. Looking forward to sampling more from the bottle I was given to take home! Jed is all over the map! He'll brew up anything, and apparently, has good success with most of it. His "dirty bastard" and "ass backwards" whiskeys were two of my favorites from the night. Also, he has a really nice ginger whiskey, aged over a year, that was fantastic. Could go on and on and on...

Most of all, though was the opportunity to meet all you folks in person. It was a very relaxed event and I had a really great time. I think I found a kindred spirit in Jed, he even had a delicious potato spirit!
