PNW Meet and great 2019

Post by Oldvine Zin »

In the past we have centered our PNW meet around the Proof of Washington event, this year it's Saturday July 13th. It's a great opportunity to taste what the Commercial PNW distilleries have to offer, some good lots bad. The meet after is a chance to taste what we have been making, mostly good :D .

I did host one a couple of years ago at our warehouse a few blocks away but unfortunately our lease is up end of June. The new warehouse is across town and sits right next to interstate 5, lots of road noise and not a pleasant place to sit outdoors. But still willing to host unless someone here has a better situation.

I plan to be there for both PROOF and the fun afterward.

I’m not from the Seattle area so unfortunately can’t offer up any specific locations for the gathering. I was doing research on hosting a meet-n-greet in my area and found that many city parks allowed drinking in the park with an inexpensive permit. Great places to throw down some chairs, BBQ, and hang out and drink in a beautiful environment. I know a lot of parks around here are not too crowded and have some relatively isolated areas with not much foot traffic. Not sure what the parks are like in your neck of the woods. If we keep our jars in boxes when not being poured from it would lot have to look like a canning party.

Ha Ha I can see the headlines in the local paper " 5 gallons of non taxed liquor was seized at a city park today. An interstate gang of moonshiners were arrested."

While the park option sounds OK< I think that a more private location would be better

OK sorry for me being a smart ass - I'm considering hosting at my house, about a half mile from the venue.

Just looked at the distillery's that are currently sighed up for proof 2019 - about half of what was signed up last year, I missed it last year but I'm seeing a few of my favorites are not on the list as of today :( - hope that that changes in the next few weekk

Tickets go for sale online tomorrow - for me spending the few bucks more of the expensive ticket is worth it if you are going to attend. Just having an hour without the gumby's plus another glass is worth it to me.

Thinking about a logo to put on a tee shirt.. any of you graphic designers out there? One thought that comes to mind is mount Rainer ( a great dome lid) with a lyne arm and a drop? PNWHD under it

I'm vacationing in the Keys right now.
Thinking of picking up something to bring that none of us in the PNW ever see for sale near home.
Talked with LWTCS a bit so I have an idea of what to look for, I'm on a mission.
They have a lot of rum I've never seen for sale in Wa.

It was actually your idea I just played around with paint shop for a few minutes. When I was doing the blacked out skyline I noticed that one building was in the perfect place to act as a flake stand. I don't know if the file I've been working with is big enough to be transferred to a t-shirt but I was just doing it as a basic idea and figure a t-shirt or graphics place could work from there.

It sucks but it's all because I'm low man on day shift which means my days off suck so I have to work weekends. I get a lot of days off but it's all done by a kind of complicated system based on seniority and only so many people are allowed off at once. By the time it gets to my turn July, August and most of September are locked up solid making it impossible to get a Sunday off. In fact the way things work most Sundays are locked up from July through the end of the year :( So with proof being in July it seldom works out for me.

Still trying to figure out a way to make it down. If I can only make one it would probably be the meet & greet but not interested in an 1.5 hour drive one way two days in a row. Wished I would have booked my condo ownership before they booked up. If I do go I have so many tee-shirts now I can hardly close my drawer so would probably pass on the shirt.

I may only be able to make the meet n great too. Limited budget, and the meet n great is way more interesting, better spirits, and better company. Otis

I am just coming back from the family vacation in Hungary around that time. Probably on the 9th or 10th of August. Keep me update, please, so we can check if we can meet. Would love to catch up!
