Must be nice. I wish I had a teetotaler to do storage for me. :)

My other sisters drink, and the teetotaler sister likes them better than me. Pilferage is to be expected.
Hopefully there will be enough left to see how it tastes after proper aging.

Har! That reminds of the guy on the other end of that spectrum who couldn't get his friends to stop drinking his feints.

Good work, shady! Enjoy.
Distilling at 110f and 75 torr.

Just an update.
The steam bourdon is aging very well.
Sadly, it's not going to last much longer.
And I've changed my equipment and protocol.

Steam injecting a 15g mash in this method, is there any need for the pressure relief valve? I've got the extra copper kicking around to build the steam wand and was thinking about trying it out soon. I wouldn't have thought it be any different than running the still with solids in the thumper.

get a brix reading on said ball bearings and then you can find out how much fermentables are in there

In theory, no. In practice, it can't hurt to be paranoid. You're not paranoid if they are really out to get you. :)

I run a PRV on my boiler when I steam strip in my thumper.

A manometer is cheap, reliable and simple to build.
The one on my steam rig is 2 meters tall

"I stumbled upon this while looking for something else" to quote Shadylane. I recently completed my steamer build nearly identical setup complete with a 15 gallon BOP for the corn. I'm using my copper pot instead of a keg for the boiler and have a braided SS covered pipe for the steam injector. Currently I have a 1/2" pipe extended with a cork in it for a PRV.

A couple of questions.
1) What size pipe/tubing do you use for the manometer?
2) how hot does it get - can I use vinyl tubing for the "visible" section?
3) Do you use filtered water in the boiler to eliminate sediment buildup?

"braided SS covered pipe"

That doesn't have a rubber/ plastic lining, does it?

No - rubber tube removed and a copper pipe with slits inserted. See Brutal's steam injection attachment http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 92&t=52926
