square sight glass

Post by googe »

Been working on this lately, every still ive seen has round ones and thought there must be other options surely. I'm going to connect it from the inside using similar to pic 1, I'm getting some special mounts mad at work from stainless and will solder a copper frame on the inside to hold it, will be easier to understand when I get the bits. Its going to clamp from the back onto the glass pushing it against a seal between the glass and the column. Any thoughts welcome, good or bad.

Bloody hell googe.
How much is the space taken up by the lens and mount?
Bearing in mind that it will be in the vapor trail.

Watching with interest.

This was my initial thought but I also like people trying and thinking off new ideas and ways to do things. If you think it is easier or cheaper to build and still safe go for it.
