Hey all, havnt been on here forever!!. gave my new pot still a run today, dissapointed with the output :( 250ml per 2.20 mins, which = arond 9L an hour, correct me if im wrong?. Did a TPW spirit run, was pulling 87% , better than the dude at works reflux ha. I did it in a spiral way to try an create a vortex effect providing faster vapor speed. I also added a spirial in the centre of the colum after the first run and i got around a litre more per hour. I just flattened some pipe and twisted it in the vice and jamed it up the colum. The condensor works unreal, with flames slaping the top of the keg it still wasnt huffing or struggling at all. I think the main prob was input to the condensor from the colum, ive got 2" down to 3/4" and into the condensor, if i had some bigger input into the condensor it would kick ass i reckon. The control with this condensor is great!, very precise, the flow is nothing like a reg liebig, its very very constant, no brocken steaam into drops then a stream then god knows what, it just stays on what i set it on. I need a bigger boiler and bigger water supply!. This will be my fav pot still now, produces very nice tasting stuff at high abv . Sorry for the crap pics.

Hi Googe

Ill take the "disappointed" comment as sarcasm.

Very interesting concept there, just wondering what you are trying to achieve?
For how many people?

Most importantly how did it taste?

Very nice Googe, good to see ya back. Condenser works great huh? Might consider that for something I'm working on... water temps getting too high? Check out hawkingraige swamp cooler. You could look at mine also but his is nicer and with the swampcooler pad, I think his works better...

Thanks fella's, no sarcasm reddog, was hoping for alot more. The idea is to have a good stipping still, thats all :) . It tastes nothing like ive done before, smooth, clear, and no smell what so ever in the hearts. Thanks wacabi, yeah it works wonderfull, very happy with it!. Yep water getting to hot, the liebig holds alot of water lol. I think anther 44gal drum should fix it, but i ll have a look into the coolers you mentined  .

Cheers

Here's hawks... http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... r#p7014828

And mine... http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... ler+wacabi

They really help maintain water temp, saves water instead of running off tap, cheap and easy build while waiting for a ferment...

You will find little air coolers like this dumped on the side of the road, they hold about 20l of water and work well

just open it up and place a 2000-5000 lh pump in the sump and recirculate the water through it while it is running.
