P..P...Pyrex tube.. w..w..where did you manage to get your hands on it!!!!!!!!
The balls. I dont get it. What specifically is this type of design called.. "ponu" I want to research this.

So this video shows the bolt on flange mount On top of the tube... could that also be an option? where would I find fittings like that..

Be interesting to see how they sealed the bubble plates off to the glass...If they are making alcohol for consumption or fuel...I pondered the material for this for quite a while when I was building mine...Top fittings (and probably the bottom) are a compression style flange seal. You could probably get something from a Dairy process parts supply house. But be ready to pay big bucks....As well there is a good amount of information on the ponu still design on this site...

I just priced up http://zjdonjoy.en.made-in-china.com/pr ... 0040-.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow - $57 each. I'm thinking get a 1000mm x 4" pyrex tube and replace the four metal support rods with 1000mm threaded rod. think it would work? I mean is that 4" pyrex tube you worked with 'resonably' durable ?

That would work. I have a couple of these site glasses. The only thing is you have to pull the seals and replace them. Mine came with silicone flat seals. I replaced mine with a cork gasket wrapped with teflon......The pyrex is pretty durable (it is used for lab waste in industrial applications) but it wouldn't survive rolling off your work bench.....I was concerned with the glass expanding and the end plates not allowing for the expansion, but it was not an issue..

I apologize for the necro, but I've spent months now obsessively reading build threads, and this is easily the most beautiful thing I've seen.
If anything deserves a bump, it's this glass ponu. Good lord.

Dang I was just thinking about building the same exact thing. Well I guess I will have to do something else. Dang I didn't see this till now. I saw the other ponu and builds just as crazy, just can't believe I missed this one. Now I'm gonna have to go build something.

I originally read this thread during my year of lurking before signing up. I love art stills and there are some real amazing ones on here. The creativeness of the members never ceases to amaze me.
