First Build-Modular VM

Many like to post about a first successful ferment (or first all grain mash), or first still built/bought or first good run of the still. Tell us about all of these great times here.
Pics are VERY welcome, we drool over pretty copper 8)

First Build-Modular VM

Post by Oldhenry1 »

After much lurking and lots and lots of reading I finally took the plunge.
I'm a Home Brewer, so some similarities but more differences.
It all started with the Boiler find.

My Set Up:

Fermenter) 14.7 gallon Stainless Steel Conical borrowed from my Home Brewing set-up

Boiler) 13.2 Gal Brewery Keg with 4" Tri-Clover already installed
Column) SS 4"-3" concentric reducer to a 3" SS modular 48" Tall to a 3"-2" concentric reducer to a 2" Sight Glass
Packing) Copper Mesh 48" in the main column
Take Off) A 2" 3-way Tee to 2"-1" concentric reducer to 1" Ball Valve to a 1" 90 degree Elbow
RC) A 2" 17" long Copper Shotgun 5 Tube above the Take-off capped but vented to the atmosphere
PC) A 1" over 3/4" inner 36" long Copper Liebig 24" long water jacket (I still have some soldering to do)

Heat) 160k Propane Crab Cooker also borrowed from my Home Brewing set-up

My goal is to first run Neutral and learn how it all works, get a feel for things, then slowly graduate to more "adult" recipes.

I respect the experience here and I have an awful lot to learn, I look forward to the journey.

Your Advice is always welcome. Think my build has a chance or should I make some adjustments?
