moonshine was the cause of nascar....

I'm sure some of you probably already know this.. but tonight on CMT there was a special called moonshine madness (it was right after a moonshine related episode of dukes of hazzard) anyhow one of the more interesting things I learned from the show was that nascar racing was caused by trippers who used souped up cars to deliver their moonshine while outrunning revenuers... the trippers eventually wanted to prove to themselves who was the fastest and started holding races.. more and more people started showing up then they moved the whole thing to daytona.. i'm not a big nascar fan but still an interesting and humerous bit of history.
