how far is far enough?

For those of you who use propane for heat how far do you have your collection container from the burner. I would figure that farther is better , but how far is far? I was actually thinking about using a piece of concrete board ( like they use on floors when they tile) and making a partition between the boiler and the collection container . Any thoughts on that? Thanks

maybe 5 feet or so on top of a table about 3 feet high

I use a gas stove, the linear distance is only about 1m but the outlet and collection vessel are lower than the heat source to avoid any prospect of flashback - unless the whole kitchen fills with fumes first.

Same as above except I collect into jugs. (wine jugs from the grocery store)
