What's everyone's favorite holiday food item? That one thing that really makes the holiday complete for you?

My mom made each of my two sister's and myself our favorite cookies from when we were kids. It was pecan sandies for me, some folks call them roly-polys around here.

Myself I don't have much of a sweet tooth at all. I'd rather eat peanuts but what I love for dinner around the holidays is the stuffing inside a turkey. It feels like Christmas when every where I go they are serving stuffed turkey. I am not picky though, I love all food. Just had Christmas dinner at my in-laws, ate way to much.

pork and sourkraut is my favorite,but I'll have to wait till new year, family ate beef ...but I loved the wilted spinach with bacon dressing we made.

Oh, and homemade egg nog. Has about a carton of eggs, tons of sugar, whole milk, etc. in it. And lots of whiskey. Sets you right on Christmas Eve!

Rare Breed bourbon

Mine used to be Rare Breed or Gentleman Jack. The wood and cork top of Gentleman Jack makes a great top for a cedar turkey call striker. The Rare Breed has a plastic top on the cork that makes a good inlay on a box call or on a turtle shell call. I always took the top to make a new call for the upcoming spring turkey season and then would retire it after bagging a Tom.

Since I started this hobby I no longer buy that stuff but have my own bourbon and my brother in law breaks out his high dollar scotch from Macallan and J & A Mitchell.

Family tradition is a botle of reisling wine. I like the mildly sweet wine, but for me the spirit beverage is the Jaggermeister, or a nice bourbon. Yeungiling Porter or Prince of Darkness homebrews fill the fermented malt spot.

Tasty holiday drinks, all. outlawokie, I gave my dad a quart of Peach on his 70th b'day this summer, and he loved it. We all got quite lit up on it at his b'day. Also sent a quart down to a buddy in New Orleans whose house was demolished by Katrina. He was most grateful.
