Is 110 proof (55%Alc) enough to get out the "good"

As the title says I'd like to know if a 55%Alc (110proof) solution is capable of get out the "good" (of wormwood). I'd simply allow the wormwood to macerate in this solution for something like 5 days. Is it necessary to increase the alcohol % first?

If all you plan on doing with it is soaking the wormwood, then you won't get anything "good" out of it. So yeah, go with what you have on hand. It'll be worthless all the same.

Revox -- I see that you are a new member. Before asking questions it helps to use the search feature first.....kind of gets old people beat the same subjects to death and then getting pissy when they don't instantly get the answer they want.

Here's one of the first entries I found:

Thanks for the link I've read that before my first post...I do have some good receipes for absinthe...I'm not saying that I want to get absinthe just soaking wormwood in alcohol, that would be pretty useless. I already have 'a kind of' absinthe (instead of artemisia absinthium they used artemisia pontica/petit) and it's 55% - 110 proof.
I just wanted to add the real absinthe herb to it. Now the question was...There's enough alcohol % in this solution to get the 'good' out of a couple artemisia spoons?

Acording to the scientific american recipee, the base spirit for the absinthe is 95%abv, but it is later dilluted to near 75% before distillation.
Hey guys!!! Watch this.... OUCH!

Revox,

You're talking about Absente, which is not really absinthe. They use southernwood, not A. pontica. Absente is 110 proof, but that's after dilution. As possum said, read the threads we already have. You can't have read that thread too closely or you wouldn't be asking about getting the "good" out of the wormwood.
