I neeeeeeeeed new Vavles - Help.

Post by Don Ventura »

Okay I've searched far and wide and even emailed a bunch of Vavle and pipe vendors for suitable valves for my reflux column "Fatman". The ones I bought at Fergusons, which BTW were said to be rubber free and okay for what I was doing, turned out to be the exact opposite. I ran that molasses batch I have been sitting on for four weeks waiting for it to finish and clear and when I finaly get some heat to it, the valves melt down and contaminate the product... gave it a really freaky Vanilla/Malt aroma and a whacked out taste. Needless to say it was all crap!

So can anyone point me to a vendor, prefferably on the internet, or a part number, or a specific name of a valve that I could use? I would preffer a ball valve type as I'm not really happy with these needle valves to being with.

Help me rhonda~!

This site might have what your looking for

At their site click on control valves page 404 and look for plug valves... This is what I use on my valved reflux. It's a type of ball valve.

I love that catalog...

St pats has some too...

found the best deals on stainless valves on Ebay, but you sometimes have to look around there for a while.

be sure to check the packing material. some have rubber too...
