ethanol fired rocket

Post by drunk2much »

Kindda crazy but i just have to ask has anyone every though or built a ethanol fired rocket. I have all this head from several dis. and didnt just wanna start a brush pile with it. This was also featured on myth busters but they gave up and use a solid rocket engine made out of plumbing parts (hum sounds familur). i would like to dabble into this jsut for shi* and giggles just like anything else i do. (because i can  )

A amatur rocket team built one with a 2000lb thrust LOX/Ethanol (75% Ethanol, 25% water) engine for the Spacefarer X-80, first fired in late 1994, with a full duration test June 12th 1995. The full duration test lasted for 52 seconds, making it the longest firing of an amateur biprop, and also setting the record for total impulse in an amateur engine, 102,000 lb-seconds.
