You are an innovator.
Very nice idea. Simple and clean. I tried a similar concept on my half gallon doubler.

Cool set up.I made a similer set up to hold cap on still once.except I used springs .I soldered washers to still and to cap,Using the springs to hold down tight.Your thumper set up reminds me of a old ford red bellied tractors fuel filter set up good work.To answer your question a fella posted a similer desine either on old fourm or this one long time ago.Goes to show its hard to keep a good idea down
I use a pot still.Sometimes with a thumper

It's a 64 once (1/2) gallon olive jar. I selected it for the volume.
I had to try several until I got one large enough to handle the throughput.
I charge it with 100 proof about 1/3 full. It maintains that level throughout the run. At the end it has lots of tails in it.
I can push it with 3800 w and it produces about 75ml/minute.
I use this for both single and doubling(quadrupling).
For rums, brandies, sour mash and medigen (honey mead as the wash)
I run it once. For sugar and hfcs I run it twice. The second run
averages 160 proof. For a third run it is nearly 185. I haven't done a three run batch but once. It was a waste of time because there wasn't that
much flavor difference for me to care.
I drive it with a 15.5 gallon stainless keg with a seperate fill and lyne arm
with a drain on the bottom. Its more or less stationary.
I was trying to predict some other questions. If I missed any please feel free to ask.

Ive never used a thumper that small.Mine have been from 1/2 to same size as still. Can see where 1 that small be good for puking over or for adding flavors to spirit. Dont see where it big enough to do the 2nd distillation.looks like it would heat up to same as still to fast.Dont get me wrong Im not knocking your set up just cant figure it out.figure I might learn something here.I also us a ss keg and get close to same proofs as with out thumper. However I use a 1 1/2 in wide tubing 18 inch or so with copper scrubbers packed in it reduced to 7/8th tubing off still with elled 3 foot of tubing at a slight rise before dropping straight down into a 15 gallon barrel with 20 ft of 7/8th copper worm in it.

I have one in the thumper, one in the top of the boiler and one at the end of the condenser. I have been known to drive the crap out of it and blow vapors past when I get the condenser too hot.
I only use the temperatures for reference. I measure all my output with a refractometer for each 750ml bottle.

Sorry tater, i was mashing and typing too. I took too long and missed you post. This little thumper is about equivelent to 1/2 a plate. But it does more than that. It catches the puke and it catches a lot of tails. Almost like running it twice. Mostly it entertains me because the boiling is hypnotic.
