Just purchased 1kg of Carbon but got powder.. not granular

Just got a pile of stuff from winemaking supplies in Vic Australia..

one of the items was a 1Kg bag of Carbon.. i was expecting granuels but this stuff is fine powder.

is it still usable, maybee when you put a bit in the wash on second run to clean up nasties etc ..

anybody had experience with carbon powder ..
