Heat on cutting

Has anyone else noticed that when cutting spirits back to drinking strength, a decent amount of heat is produced and many bubbles?

Yes I have also noticed a bit of heat being generated during dilution.

Yes I was told it is the same reason low ph solutions mixed with water get cold.
