Flour as a sealant is a topic I have read about quite a lot of times but have never practiced.
First there is the question of wheat vs. rye. Almost all of the old articles and documentaries specify rye. Also copper alembics recommendations are for rye flour.
The next misunderstanding on my part is technique. Is is made like putty and pressed into the joint, or is it made like paste and smeared into the joint.
Where my cap is inserted into the collar on the boiler is what I am going to seal.
Have you done this and if you have, what material, method and success rate?
Old timers this is your chance to shine.
