Well I'm scratch'n my head on this one. I see the possible cooling water in connection, and maybe a drain for either warm water or product in the bottom of that cylinder/jacket. Beyond that I've no clue.

I'd be curious what they put it together with 'back in the day' and is it worth more as a historical piece or scrap copper :?:

As far as the description one thing is for sure, solder maybe, but 'glue' ain't gonna fix it.

It is definitely strange that the vapor enters the bottom of the condenser. Unless, of course it isn't a still at all.

I'm guessing that ain't lead-free solder.

I'm guessing puke box. Drain on the bottom and seperation of liquid an solid would be implmented well enough. I believe the arm is bent though.

Looks like a still to me. It says in the description that the "upper section" is loose, lending credence to the bent over theory. I'll bet that hose on the side is an outlet from a worm of some kind inside the upper section, and that the valve is for release of the spirits at the bottom. That would make it a primitive valved reflux still. There must be a water inlet we're not seeing in these pictures. Maybe on the back.
